Requirements Feburary 1979 until February 1981
- Be active in your troop and patrol for at least 4 months as a First Class Scout.
- Show Scout spirit.
- Earn five more merit badges so you have six in all, including any three from the required list for Eagle.
- While a First Class Scout, take part in a service projects totaling at least 6 hours of work. These projects must be approved by your Scoutmaster
- While a First Class Scout, serve actively for a period of four months in one of of the following positions (or carry out a Scoutmaster-assigned leadership project to help the troop): patrol leader, jumior assistant Scoutmaster, scribe, den chief, quartermaster, librarian, member of the leadership corps, senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, instructor, bugler, chaplain aid, or historian.
- Take part in a personal growth agreement conference.

- While a First Class Scout, serve actively four months in one of of the following positions of responsibility (or carry out a Scoutmaster-assigned leadership project to help the troop): patrol leader, senior patrol leader, asssistant senior patrol leader, den chief, scribe, librarian, historian, quartermaster, bugler, chaplain aid, instructor, junior assistant Scoutmaster, troop guide, Varsity team captain, or Venture crew chief.
